The Re-imagining Reproduction project hosts an interactive writing workshop at Maseno University, Kenya.

On the 9th of November, the Reimagining Reproduction team hosted an interactive workshop at Maseno University that addressed issues relating to writing articles and the challenges of publishing. The workshop was attended by staff and students representing various levels of academic trajectories, including Undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, MA students, PhD candidates, early careers scholars, and senior staff including Dr. K. Korir from the Department of Media and Communications Technology and Dr. J. Okello from the Department of Linguistics and Literary Studies.

The workshop included opening remarks from the Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof. David Ogoti Ongarora and Dr Charles Omondi Olang’o, Chairman, Department of  Sociology and Anthropology. The workshop (and a conference convened on the 13th of November 2023) was conceived as part of introducing the work of the Reimagining Reproduction project to a wider audience in Kenya which is one of the sites where two of the research fellows are conducting their research. It is also based on the project’s principles of epistemic and intellectual generosity.

I would like to express my gratitude to the organisers of the workshops. I’ve learnt a lot and my perspectives on writing have really changed. Thank you so much.

This workshop has provided new insights into the world of publishing; quite inspiring and stimulating ideas.

Very interactive learning session.

This workshop has built me. I have learnt important things in scholarly writing that I did not know. If it could be done continuously, students and staff could benefit.

Come back again!!! The experience is an eye opener.
