Dr. Tariro Moyana, a post-doctoral fellow in the Reimagining Reproduction project, participated in an Erasmus-funded Staff and Teacher Exchange Programme at Uppsala University in Sweden from 13-20 May 2024. The visit which was hosted by the Sociology Department centred on medical humanities, focusing on research methodologies and integrating research in teaching medical sociology and anthropology in medical school settings.
During her visit, Dr Moyana actively engaged in discussions attended research seminars, and participated in paper presentations. One of the major highlights was her presentation at the Welfare Research Group on 14 May 2024, where she shared insights on research methodologies from her previous and current research.
Additionally, she attended a Research Network Meeting hosted by the Center of Medical Humanities and Bioethics at Linkoping University, Sweden from May 20- 21, 2024. Engaging with researchers and academics from Uppsala and Linkoping universities allowed Dr Moyana to explore diverse research insights, methodologies and theoretical frameworks that can be adapted to her ongoing research and teaching. Moreover, the networking and discussions around channels for future research collaboration were not only a valuable academic experience for her but also an opportunity to bridge the gap between the Global North and South and the broader academic community in medical humanities.
